Beards Growing

Just Grow it

"...the male beard communicates an heroic image of the independent, sturdy, and resourceful pioneer, ready, willing and able to do manly things." Psychologist Robert J. Pellegrini reported in Psychology, 1973, Volume 10, No. 1, the results of an experiment on the perception of male personality as a function of varying states of beardedness.

Gather up some courage and embark on a journey of self discovery, you too, can grow a beard of your very own.

1. To beard,or not to beard?
You may want to consult your genetics. Some guys just don't have it in them, but you owe it to yourself to find out. At least once in your life, do some facial hair experimenting. Once you've made your choice, stick with it.

2. Put down the razor, pick up the axe
Remember, change can be a bit scary at first. Just relax and embrace what is about to happen.  A new study conducted by researchers in Australia shows that women prefer men with heavy stubble over clean-shaven guys and guys sporting light stubble or full beards. Don't touch your razor for the first 4 weeks, let it fill out first before you start trying to shape it. You  might cut off more than you really want. You can go always go smaller and make proper adjustments if you're shaping into a something like a Winnfield. Once you've got something to work with, you can start with defining the neck line and if you're up for an adventure - go trim happy into a Franz Josef. Having trouble finding ways to spend all your new found free time. Let the beard inspire you...perhaps you'll discover your inner lumberjack.
Beard Growth Lumberjack Style

During this 4 week period, you may experience some itching and maybe even a little bitching from a significant other. Enter Whisker Elixir. This will be your saving grace! From day one, apply the beard oil to your face. This will encourage hair growth and most importantly condition your facial locks, leaving it soft and strokable.

3. Tressed to Impress
For maintenance, you might want to invest in a beard trimmer, just depends on the look you're going for. Wild 'n' free is just fine too. There are a lot of Strong opinions on cleansing of the beard. Some advocate that you shampoo everyday. We think that is bit unnecessary, you don't want to beat up the beard with harsh cleansers, probably most in which are alcohol based. Start with washing it once a week. Our Whisker Elixir is not oily, in fact it is cleansing in itself due to the palma christi oil we use. The essential oils will help balance out your oil production too... so you might even find that a good rinse and some finger to under-beard scrubbing works great. Either way, after showering, give your beard a little pat down to dry, then apply the beard oil and you're good to go!

4. Take your beard for a walk, show it to the world!
