Cherry Berry Face Mask

Nutrient Dense + Hydrating
Featuring Wild Cherry Bark + Goji Berry

Mark Twain might have been exaggerating a little when he said, "In the spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside of 24 hours". But you get the idea, Spring can bring all sorts of surprises. This mask provides stabilizing hydration while we enter days of fluctuating humidity and the wild cherry bark helps nourish irritated and inflamed skin too. This red Moroccan clay-based mask fills your skin with minerals it might be depleted of while the kaolin ever-so-gently balances oil production. Ground-up tart cherries brighten skin, fight free radicals and prevent acne breakouts. All in all, this mask prevents and protects your skin against all the 136 different kinds of weather.

Spring Skin Needs
When the first sign of spring appears, it's like a breath of fresh air, isn't it? You do a little happy dance and can't help but smile! Your skin feels this too. The days of being beaten up with cold, dry air are coming to an end, soon to be replaced with higher humidity and warmer, sunnier days. Sunburns are usually associated with trips to the beach in the height of the summer months, not during the cooler days of spring. In actuality, UV rays are more intense in the spring, we just might not realize it because it's still not that warm yet. When the angle of the sun becomes more direct, UV radiation strengthens which is happening between the spring equinox and summer solstice. Thus presenting a very real threat to our skin. So how do we support our skin through that? Answer: Cherries and Berries!

Cherries are loaded with antioxidants, 17 free-radical fighting antioxidants to be exact, that helps defend against environmental aggressors. Free radicals are known to accelerate aging and weaken the skin barrier making it vulnerable. Cherry oil supports your skin barrier function and brings it back to a state of homeostasis while calming inflammation, reducing redness & breakouts, evening skin tone, and it also combats cellular damage while promoting cellular regeneration. Making it great for sensitive, acne-prone and mature skin. High amounts of vit c help stimulate collagen production, brighten skin, lift dark spots, and assist with hyperpigmentation issues like acne scars and melasma. Let's not forget about EFAs (essential fatty acids) either. These naturally occur in the skin barrier and help lock in moisture. Sometimes we have a hard time replenishing them with our diet, especially omega 3's, which cherries have!

Berries In this Spring line we are leaning on the heavy hitters of Cloudberries, also known as Arctic Gold, and Goji Berries, also known as "Red Diamonds" and "Happy Fruit". Cloudberries grow in the arctic regions of Scandinavia in temperatures that dip down to -40°F.  They are pretty tough and have the power to really protect our skin. They have 5x more vitamin c than an orange and are loaded with anthocyanins. This provides an important function for the plant for survival and reproduction. It also is what gives the berries their bright orange color which hints at its high beta carotene content, when applied to the skin this converts to Vit A which helps firm skin and boosts radiance. There have been numerous studies about these anthocyanins and how they have the potential to protect the skin from UV damage in a major way. Our freshly out of winter skin needs this major protection first thing in the spring when UV rays are at their peak. Cloudberries also contain a significant amount of ellagic acid, a polyphenol that prevents wrinkles and also repairs UV damage, the main contributor to skin aging. The goji berries have a lot of key b vitamins like riboflavin, thiamine, and nicotinic acid. These help with signs of aging, balance oil production, prevent dryness, calm irritated skin, and also helps our skin's surface structure. All those are awesome, but goji is the best natural source of zeaxanthin. Zeaxanthin may protect skin from sun damage and improve skin tone and slow aging. Combined with goji berry's phenolic acid it has the ability to accelerate wound healing and adds protection against deleterious effects of solar irradiation. Long story short, we can consider cloudberry and goji berry as our best natural allies against UV rays and we can count on them to support our skin through aging.

How to use: Mix 1 Tablespoon of powder with enough water to get a good thick gooey consistency. Or, use your choice of liquid (the toner is lovely) and let sit for a few mins while you are exfoliating during step 1. Apply a thick layer of the good goo to your face & let sit for 10 mins or until dry. Rinse with water. Follow up with the Cherry Berry Mist.
